Hawaii Day 2

Started our morning really early! Iban called Jeric at 4:30 am for help with work stuff. I woke up and also had to use the bano, so that made me wide awake. What to do? Ohhh, our hotel balcony is facing East! I could totally catch the sunrise.

Jeric suggested getting a time lapse with the GoPro. Good thinking. Checked when sunrise is (6:05 am). It’s currently 5:00 am. So I got everything ready and set it all up.
Noticed that at around 5:10 am, the sky went from pitch black to dark grey already. Ugh, gotta hurry up and figure out how to create the time lapse. The Hero 4 has a 4k time lapse option! Set it all up, but was having trouble with the settings because it only recorded for like 10 seconds and then stopped and I had to hit record again. Yah, I’d be sitting here all morning long pressing the record button. Jeric was finally done helping his brother so he checked out how to fix my issue and got it to work. So we set it up and left it recording.

That’s when I decided to go downstairs and hit the gym. Three other people there, but I was good working out and had all the equipment needed. I actually got on the treadmill too. Did 5% incline and kept switching between 2 and 6 mph. Lol! It was hard to stick to 6 mph and I never made it to half a mile.

Oh well, hit the weights. Then, everyone left, so I went to weigh myself. 130! Woot woot! That’s 12 lbs down from the start. People started trickling in again. 2 couples, one kinda old asian couple and one really old english/american couple. They basically took all the weights I was using and started moving things around. So I just left.

When I got back I thought it was a good idea to stop the recording seeing how the sun was peeking already.

I stopped recording and transferred the files over.
Whoopsie, it didn’t send over an mp4, just a bunch of jpgs. Ugh, gotta see how to do this right later.

Meanwhile, Jeric went to the gym and Zoë’s still knocked out.

He got back and showered. So I tickled Zoë awake.

We all got ready and actually wore swimsuits or packed them with us. Zoë's outfit was super cute!

And of course, gotta take some family photos.

Then we suntan lotioned ourselves and headed on out.

The plan was to get food at Musubi Cafe first, then head to Giovanni’s Shrimp Truck over by North Shore, which was an hour away. Then, Shave Ice and checking out North Shore. But, this morning Zoë was like, I wanna see turtles. So I looked online and saw that Laniakea Beach is literally Turtle Beach and is right by North Shore!

So we headed on out and grabbed some breakfast from Musubi Cafe. There was no parking, so Jeric dropped me off while I ran in and got something for all of us. The little spot was super cute!

And check out all the different SPAM flavors!

I asked the lady what the favs were and she pointed them out to me and I picked accordingly. I got the spam musubi with avocado and bacon for me, the egg and spam musubi for Zoë and a few onigiri's for Jeric (tuna and salmon/cod). And then we were off again.

We had to go to Target and on the way there, we all scarfed down our breakfast.

I was supposed to quickly go down and grab what we needed (sunglasses for Zoë, a beach mat, beach toys, dishwash soap, and candy for Zoë). But, we ended up all going together.

We did make the trip to Target fairly quick though and then we were back not the road.

Now we drive an hour away! Here's one pretty view as we drove along the hwy.

We decided to hit up Turtle Beach first, which was smart! Because we got to see a turtle! On the way there, Zoë fell asleep. Then we were about a half a mile away from the actual destination, but there was a bit of traffic, so when Jeric saw the first available spot to park, he parked and I woke up sleeping beauty.

We added another layer of suntan lotion on ourselves since it’s been way more than an hour. Here we are ready to hit the beach!

We headed across the street to the beach.

This wasn’t the actual beach area though. But we noticed a group of people staring out and some taking photos/vids. Turns out there was one turtle sun bathing and three others swimming super close to shore. We hung out there for awhile and got our pictures with the turtle.

Then, we walked the half a mile to the actual beach area. Found a shade spot and set our stuff down. Zoë immediately started playing with her beach toys in the sand.

Me and Jeric took turns to check out the water.

Then, we convinced Zoë to change into her bathing suit and we got more pictures in and took her to the water too.

I remembered that I noticed there were a bunch of rocks to the left as you walked onto the beach, which made a really nice tide pool. I decided I wanted to check it out. At first it as going to be just me, but then when I walked away, Zoë said she wanted to come with.

We got there and Zoë instantly fell in love with the place. The tide pools were all like mini toddler sized swimming pools!

I couldn't resist taking photos of Zoë and with Zoë.

Here's a pretty view of waves crashing onto the rocks, which also brought some more water into the tide pools.

And here is Zoë and Mommy playing!

Eventually, Jeric came over with our stuff and camped out there.

Zoë did not want to leave, but we were hungry. So Jeric went to get the car and move it closer while we gave Zoë time to still play. While he walked back, Jeric saw four turtles sun bathing in the same spot we saw the other turtle!

I wished me and Zoë could've seen them too, but even that didn't convince her to get out of the tide pool. Eventually, we did convince her somehow.

When we were about to leave we saw that there was a TON of traffic heading back, so we decided to go further out instead and hit up Romy's instead of Giovanni's. But, it was cash only, so we had to drive even further out to find an ATM. By the time we got back we were all starving...hangry even. Jeric hoped in line while I changed Zoë in the car. It took about 30 minutes or so to clean off as much sand as possible and get her into clothes and even then, when we got out, Jeric was still in line!

We waited together for about 15 more minutes. Finally ordered our food and they said another 45 minute wait!!! Yah, we were definitely hangry now!

I ordered the garlic butter shrimp and Jeric ordered the sweet chili shrimp.

Zoë liked it! She ate three shrimps and rice. She hated the lemonade tho. Hahahaha.

By the time we were done with lunch. We were all pooped. But we were supposed to try and make Dole Plantation. Yah, that did not happen. Because of the long wait at Romy’s and traffic our ETA was right when it closed. How bout Pearl Harbor? Nope! They’re closed already.

Hmmm, well, we were all tired, so back to the hotel! We figured we can shower, nap and then have dinner.

I napped a little on the way back. Zoë didn’t though, even though she looked tired.

After we showered, Zoë was still super wired! She had insane amounts of energy. So we decided we go walk around instead of taking a nap.

We walked along Waikiki and hung out in the shopping center.

Of course, Zoë found a stage...

Which she immediately hopped on and began dancing. Yah, she danced and danced and danced. We could not get her off the stage!

Eventually, we enticed her with candy. By then I was hungry. So I waited in line for Marukame Udon.

The line wasn’t bad and since it was closing soon I ordered it to go. And it's always fund watching them make fresh noodles while in line.

I got the Nikutama Udon and ordered a large and hot. I also added two shrimp tempuras for Zoë.

Once we got back to the hotel, me and Zoë chowed down while Daddy fell asleep.

Then Zoë knocked out watching TV after and I got ready to plan for Day 3 and eventually slept as well.

'Til tomorrow!
