Hawaii Day 4

Started our morning with some Malasadas from Leonard’s bakery. Plus a cupcake that caught Zoë's eye.

We wanted to hit-up another beach so Zoë could have some fun before tonights festivities so we took our Malasadas to go and ate them in the car.

They were all delicious, but I think everyone's favorite were the ones without any filling. The filling was just too much, I guess.

We were on our way to Ko Olina Beach Park because I saw that they had small lagoons that were perfect for Zoë. When we got there though, Jeric noticed the water was a bit murky and was grossed out by it. Hahaha. Still better than Cali though. And Zoë was super happy, which is all that matters. So, we let her play in the water for a good 45 minutes.

We even eventually joined her in the fun despite the murkiness.

And then we gave her another good 45 minutes to play in the shade over by our mat, which was super relaxing for us and more fun for Zoë.

When we were all beached out, we had to rush back to the hotel, shower and get ready for tonight. It's Luau time!! Since today's also my birthday, I wanted to schedule it for today. We also booked the Paradise Cove Luau since it was right on the shore.

We took off and got to the luau for check-in at 4:40 pm. And waited on the benches until the gates opened.

The gates opened at 5pm and we were greeted with either a Mai Tai or Hawaii’s famous guava/passion fruit juice. Then, we had our wonderful picture taken with a Wahine and Kane.

I spotted some pretty Hibiscus flowers and took a quick photo of Zoë.

We were then taken to our seating area (left wing when facing the stage) and got to choose seats not yet reserved. Once we marked our spots, we were free to enjoy the activities before dinner and the show.

Here's a family photo of us and a photo of Zoë next to a tribal statue.

The first activity we decided on was pics with parrots! The line was pretty short compared to the other lines, so we thought we could hit this spot quickly and make our way to another activity. We also thought Zoë would love this because she’s been chasing birds all over Hawaii.

While we waited in line, we let Zoë wander nearby. She just ended up playing with sand of course. Hahaha. Snapped this cute pic of her though!

When it was finally time to take photos with the birds, Zoë was too scared, so we held the birds instead. We weren't allowed any photos with our phone, but since the pictures came out great, we ended up buying the prints.

While waiting to pay for our photos, Zoë wouldn’t stop playing with sand and was pretty cray cray. I just didn't want her outfit and body to be all sandy, but I guess she didn't care, so we just let her play.

Jeric eventually bribed her with something from the store though since we had a $10 credit each and she came out with a TY unicorn bag with sequins that changed color when you flipped them.

This calmed her down somewhat and she did listen for several minutes. Then, it was back to playing with sand.

So then we tried to entice her with her very own tattoo. She was pretty into it, but dang, the line was ridiculous. Plus, I really would rather have her make a leaf crown with flowers or a lei wrist band. So we asked her and she said yes.

We went over to the craft tables and saw that the bracelet leis had open seats so we went there first. It’s pretty easy to make actually! You just use a thin wire to poke through the flowers and then you loop string and just pull through and tie it. Since it was easy, I had Zoë make the bracelet herself, with minor assistance from me.

And look how cute it came out! I made one for myself too.

Meanwhile, Jeric held a spot for us at the crown leaf side and when we were done making our bracelets, we switched with Jeric, but he went to a leaf bracelet spot instead of the lei bracelets. Check out his leaf bracelet!

I weaved Zoë’s and my palm leaf crowns since this was a bit difficult. Zoë really wanted to help though so I let her hold the opposite end while I weaved. And then had to fit it around Zoë's head.

Once done, the guy tied the ends together and then strung it through for us. We sized it up over our heads to make sure it fit and then he tied it off there and added flowers. So pretty!

While walking around, we also saw that someone randomly left their leis on one of the planters. We waited to see if they were anyones, but there was literally no one around. So, put them on Zoë and had a photo shoot.

She eventually got tired of them and didn't like how they felt on her. I didn't want to waste such a pretty lei so I wore them instead.

By now, they had the opening ceremony, which we only caught the tale end of since we were busy making our crowns and bracelets. We took a few more photos, headed to our seats and took some more photos while we waited for our turn to grab food.

And finally time for food! Here are all our plates of deliciousness.

And now we eat!

And enjoy the show!

Zoë even got to meet one of the pretty dancers.

And me and her also went on stage for a Hula lesson. I really wanted her to go on her own, but she would only go with me. Hahaha. It was fun though!

And then it was over. On the way out though, Zoë got to meet more of the pretty dancers!

What a great night and the best way to celebrate my birthday!
