KBBQ Addicts

We seem to fall into repetition traps from time to time. Like, we end up craving something and then eating that multiple times for the next few weeks. A week or two ago it was pitaya bowls and now its kbbq. I wanted to venture away from our normal spot, Ono BBQ, and go try out a place that I've heard a great deal about from the homies, Gen K BBQ. I wanna see what the spot is all about. Apparently, many yelpers have noted that their services are superb. The hostess was definitely prompt and courteous. The wait time was horrendous though. An hour fifty wait time. But that's nothing new, especially for a well known KBBQ spot placed in the middle of a bunch of new foodie spots, most of which are more of an accompaniment rather than competition (a.k.a. dessert spots for after dinner).

So, here we are.. waiting for our table. Zoë was already drooling over all the meat!

She also thought she'd help dada from going hangry by caressing his chin.

And finally.. we eat!

This was also our first time having Zoë sit on a booster seat. It worked out perfectly! J sat with Zoë first, but then he was having a hard time eating, so we switched her over to my side. Haha. She was sooooo messy!

As for Gen K? Not entirely impressed. All of the marinated meats weren't that much better than our standard Brisket we order at One BBQ. Some of the marinated meat didn't even seem to have the flavors of said marinade. The place does offer a whole lot more choices though as well as a lot of side orders, like spicy rice cake and fried calamari, both of which we tried. The spicy rice cakes were pretty delicious, but the calamari was more breading than squid and way too tough/chewy.

Looks like this is a one and done spot since the price is double what we pay for at One BBQ.
