DIY: Upgrading My Pin Board

Well, my Disney pin board needed an upgrade. Yup, already! Turns out, 1 layer of cork is not enough. Plus I tried having the metal plate next to it, but didn't think that through. The cork board was like 1 cm thick and the metal board was practically paper thin. Yah, that didn't look pretty and was irking me so.

So, me and Zoë took a trip over to Joanns this time and I picked up some better supplies. I found a longer roll of cork, which allowed me for three layers thick.

And I had it span the entire frame this time and then laid the metal board on top of it.

Was a much more smoother transition. I also bought me some fabric. I wanted something chic and a good contrast color for my pins. I found this pretty grey. The back of it is awesome too, but probably not good for the pins. Shiny gold. Hahaha. I'll stick to the grey.

And here my board is all covered and awaiting for the white pretty frame.

Framing it proved to be a bit difficult, but with sheer force, I got it in. Unfortunately, that also resulted in hearing the glass crack. Whoops! Oh well, it's all clothed up and held stiffly with the cork layers and the back panel of the frame. Should totally be fine. None-the-less, all framed and ready for pins and magnet buttons!

Tada! Pins and magnets. Love this so much.

DIY: New Cork/Magnetic Board

I've been wanting to update my old pin board for awhile. Not sure if you remember my old one, but here's a pic of it. I took all the pins off and only have the AP Days Button set on it right now.

I thought it was so cute back then, but it's totally not. Hahaha. Time for an upgrade!

I went to Michaels and picked up some supplies. A frame, a metal board and a cork roll. Unfortunately they don't carry cloth/fabric, so I decided to use one of Zoë's old swaddles.

I couldn't bear to cut up Zoë's old swaddle even though she doesn't use it at all. So, I found a way to just have it fold over and I taped it all up. But check it out, it's super cute with all the pins and magnetized buttons.

Zoë Finally Got Her Ice Cream

We felt so bad that Zoë didn't get her ice cream the last time we went to Disneyland, so we decided to take a quick trip there and made sure that we went straight over to the Gibson Girl Ice Cream Parlor. I also brought the Fuji Instax Mini for some cute polaroids.

She certainly loved her some ice cream!


Since we were at Disneyland, we put down a return time for Finding Nemo because she's been saying Dory and J asked her if she wanted to see Dory and she said yah.

Before heading over there though, we took her to the Tiki Room! She totally loved it!

On the way to Finding Nemo, we also stopped by the Starcade to grab the 3rd AP Days button release.

Time for Finding Nemo. But first, how bout a quick stop to take a pic with Chewbacca. Umm, maybe not. Because instead we found a line for Darth Vadar! I wonder if she'd yell at him too. Hahaha. Unfortunately, we'll never find out because that line was too long and barely moving forward. Off to Finding Nemo! I had J head over there with Zoë while I went to grab the stroller. I was about to park the stroller when J nodded over to me. He was signaling that the little one has knocked out. Poor thing couldn't last. Looks like Finding Nemo will have to be saved for next time!

A Whole Day of Disneyland Fun

J got the day off today for Zoë's Dr. visit, so we totally decided to take her to Disneyland for the entire day after.

First up, some character photo fun! And a cute photo op with some of the Valentine's Day deco.

Dada wanted some coffee from Starbucks. So, while we waited, we watched the Dapper Dans sing away on Main Street and snacked on some Hello Pandas. Hmmm, the box is like as big as Zoë! Pwahahaha!

Our first stop was the Starcade over in Tomorrowland for some AP Days fun! Yup, it's button collecting time again! And this series is way cute. They're honoring the return of the Main Street Electric Parade.

While on the way to Tomorrowland we had a quick run in with the Fairy Godmother!

Finally, at Starcade, we got our first button for the new AP Days set and I'm totally loving it. It's the turtle from the Electric Parade.

The photo ops were pretty cool too. They had a nice set area with the Robin Hood characters. First up were the good guys. Robin Hood and Friar Tuck. Zoë kept calling Robin Hood a bunny. Hahahaha. She even said it so loud when we got up to take photos. The photographer and the cast members couldn't help but laugh and throw a few jabs at Robin Hood and him being a bunny. Silly Zoë! She even said, "Bai Bunnee," when we were done taking photos.

They also had a cute area with signage for Main Street's Electric Parade.

Now it was time to enjoy the rest of Disneyland. We wanted to have Zoë finally ride Pirates, so I went to add a return time to our passes, but what a total bummer. Turns out it's closed for refurbishment until mid March. Well, time for the next best thing, more fun pictures!

First stop, the castle! We have a ton of castle pictures, but I've been wanting a cute photo of us holding Zoë's hands. Bummer though, the photographer wasn't getting with it. First off, he made us stand bunched together. I wanted us spread out, like how we walk with her. And then there's the angle. He took the shot from below. Worst. Angle. Ever! Don't these photogs know that the best angle is from above not below? It's really hard to have someone understand your vision. Plus, they didn't really take requests on how we wanted our pictures. Judging by the second picture, Zoë doesn't look to happy about it either.

Right when we got there, we immediately saw Aladdin outside. He's one we hardly see, so that was a total MUST!

Now it was time to wait in the super long line to meet Ariel, Snow White and one of their friends. While in line, Jenn, Mark and Wren said they were heading on over. They were over at California Adventure earlier, but were pretty much done now. We totally had them jump in line with us for the princess photos too.

That line took way forever and by the time we were done, we were starving. We ended up heading over to the French Market to buy some food. I got myself the Corn Chowder Bowl and shared with J. We got the Mac & Cheese for Zozo and surprisingly, she ate almost all of it! Plus her banana and some of our food. I love when she eats well!

We then headed over to take the babies to the baby center for bathroom time and diaper changing. Once our baby girls were all fresh and clean, we headed back to the AP area so Mark and Jenn can get their buttons. Plus, it was time for the Villains of Robin Hood!

And finally, our first ride! Buzz Lightyear. Poor Wrenny has been dying to ride this since we all met up. The line was fairly long. But the girls had fun together throughout the line.

As for the ride, this time, it was me against the Zoesters.

The last ride we waited for was Roger Rabbit. The line was freaking 40 minutes long. But it was one the babies haven't ridden yet. And still, the poor babies will leave the park without riding it. They were both already showing many signs of being sleepy and as we walked our way through the line they both totally knocked out! Ugh. Funny us though. We thought we could ride with them asleep, but when we got to the front the lady was like, "They need to be awake in order to ride." Mark tried waking up Wren, but she was not happy about it. The lady then said we can just ride switch. So the boys stayed with the girls while me and Jenn rode first, then when we were done, we carried our babies while the boys rode.

Was a fun ride too! I had forgotten what the ride was like. Too bad our girls didn't get to ride it though.

DIY Disney Buttons Into Magnets

We got these awesome AP buttons back in September for the AP Days Event at Disneyland. I love these buttons because they're a lot smaller than the traditional Disneyland buttons (First Visit, Happy Birthday, Just Married, etc). Those are like 3" in diameter. The AP buttons are probably 1" to 1.5" in diameter. Definitely much cuter!

Anyhow, I like how tiny they are, but I still don't like the whole button aspect. I was searching online to see a cuter way to repurpose them and found that I can totally turn the into magnets!

It's pretty simple, you just need the buttons, magnets, some sharp shears, pliers, and a glue gun.

Just use the pliers to twist around the pin on the button and then use a pair of sharp scissors to cut off onesie. Then, use the pliers again to shimmy and pull out the pin completely.

Now all you need to do is glue the magnets onto the back of the buttons, TADA!
