Sometime last week, I got a phone call from this lady who said she saw my resume online. She asked if I'd be interested in a position within the company and stated that they had tons and tons of open positions. I asked her what the compensation would be but she couldn't state what it was. I even asked her what the open positions were and she had no idea. Already, I was hesitant because it seemed odd that she would call me for a job, but then not have any pertinent details.
I did ask her though if they had positions that would definitely be geared towards what I had experience in, like administrative types and she said yes. So, I went ahead and booked the interview.
So, today's the day! And since the interview area is actually right nearby J's work, he said I can drop Zoë off over there.
Anyhow, I went over to my interview spot and it was so weird. There was a building receptionist that had me wait over in one of the many lobby lounge chairs. While sitting there, another man was next to me. I asked if he knew what this was all about and if he knew much about the company. He actually had some good info. He said that the company is United Solutions Group and they assist with finance needs, like debt consolidation/elimination, mortgage loans, income planning, etc.
But he looked a little put off too. And he was like, "I don't know about this. There are so many people here. And the interview process isn't even structured. With so many people here, it would take a few hours just to get called in for your interview." He even added that they were looking for sales folks. Yup, the job was to sell their finance services. Ugh. I hate sales.
He actually asked me what my experience is in and I told him mainly administrative. He, himself, is a private investigator and said the reason he thought this would be a good idea was because he thought it was a standard 9-5 job where his income would be more steady. He seemed like he already made nice with a lot of higher ups from United Solutions Group, so he was kind enough to grab a lady for me so that I can ask her if they had administrative positions open. And sadly, there was none at all. I was duped! Totally duped by the lady that called me to set this whole interview up in the first place. UGH! No wonder she was hesitant to divulge info about the open positions. She knew I wouldn't even bother setting up the interview in the first place.
TOTAL. WASTE. OF. TIME.
I didn't even bother staying a minute longer. I walked the heck out of there!
By the time I made it back to J's work, he was ready for his lunch break. So I picked up and Zoë up and we left to grab some lunch. We didn't eat together though. Instead, he took his back to the office and I took mine with me to go.
Gonna make the most out of our day and take Zoë to Disneyland!
